The final results of the 2025 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition are in, and once again, the world’s best producers have been recognized for their excellence in extra virgin olive oil quality.
This year’s edition — the 13th of the world’s most prestigious olive oil quality contest — saw a total of 742 awards handed out across the Northern Hemisphere division. Of these, 517 were Gold Awards and 225 Silver, highlighting a strong comeback after a quieter year in 2024.
Italy topped the leaderboard with 200 total awards, including 163 Golds, continuing its longstanding dominance. But the big story this year came from Croatia, where producers earned an impressive 125 awards — a massive jump from 80 in 2024 and even surpassing their 2023 count of 105.

Spain, the USA, Greece, and Portugal also delivered solid performances, with Spain securing 93 awards, followed closely by the United States with 92 — matching last year’s total.
What’s also worth noting is the growing presence of emerging olive oil regions. Bosnia and Herzegovina, for example, claimed 11 awards from just 12 entries — an extraordinary success rate. Single entries from Cyprus, Albania, and Pakistan also earned recognition, underlining how high-quality extra virgin olive oil is spreading well beyond traditional Mediterranean strongholds.

Among styles, monovarietal oils continued to dominate with 417 awards, while blends followed closely at 325. Meanwhile, organic producers were well-represented, with 279 awards, a steady increase over previous years, reflecting the growing link between sustainable farming and exceptional oil quality.
While 2025 didn’t quite reach the record-breaking numbers of 2023, this year’s competition demonstrated a clear rebound in global participation and quality. From the classics of Italy and Spain to the rising stars of Southeast Europe and Asia, the 2025 NYIOOC results celebrate the ongoing evolution of the world’s best olive oils.
